Rifle Dynamics: Building a More Dynamic Rifle

I had the privilege of running by the Rifle Dynamics shop a couple of weeks ago when I was out in Vegas, and it was a great visit. Jim Fuller and the crew at Rifle Dynamics take an approach that is refreshingly different than the one taken by most of the businesses just 20 minutes away on the Las Vegas strip. Rather than focusing on glamour and luxury, Fuller Read More →

Review: Wilson Combat Remanufactured Ammo

Wilson Combat’s ammunition is top-shelf in every sense of the phrase (except the one that involves a certain type of magazine). OAL is always dead on from round to round, consistency has always been ridiculously good out of every gun I own, and accuracy is as good as a given bullet/barrel combo will allow it to be. But you don’t just waste top-shelf things. And so Read More →

Sig Sauer P226 SAO Legion Series

I was perusing the interwebs this morning when I saw a friend’s status calling the new Deadpool movie both “sexy” and “flawless.” Besides reminding me that I really do need to pay the money to see that movie in the theater, it made me realize that both words are appropriate descriptions of Sig’s new Legion Series P226 SAO (Single Action Only). Deadpool needs to upgrade his Deagles to Legions. I know a lot of Read More →

MagnetoSpeed V3 Chronograph Review: A Must-Have

We do a lot of ammo testing here. Some gets published and some doesn’t, but it’s what we started out reviewing, and it’s something that I really enjoy, so there tend to be quite a few ammo reviews here as a product of that. Since SHOT 2015, my life has become much easier when it comes to doing these reviews, and it’s been the direct result of Read More →

Barnes TAC-XPD Defense Ammunition (gel test)

Anyone who shoots with me knows that I like any round loaded with a projectile manufactured by Barnes Bullets. I have even gone so far as to say that I think Barnes has made one of the top ballistic innovations of the past fifteen years with these bullets—regardless of the market you’re talking about. And a big part of the reason I’m not shy about my love affair with Read More →

Next Generation Wilson Combat 9mm Elite Tactical Magazine Launched

Gone are the days of 9mm reliability woes in the 1911 platform. Wilson Combat has just released their next-generation magazine for 1911’s chambered in 9mm, and it is pretty impressive. Rather than regurgitate what the press release says, here are my thoughts after personally running a box of ammo and then some (a BOX, not just a box) through these magazines leading up to the release. In Read More →

Product Review: HK45 with Sand Slide/Frame

Heckler and Koch is not known for cutting corners. Take one look at social media and you’ll see how much success they’ve had with the hashtag #nocompromise. That doesn’t happen unless there’s actually something to it. By the time SHOT rolled around this past January, the VP9 was still a hot item but it was old news. It had made enough waves by then to Read More →

Century Arms C39v2 Milled AK47

“Beautiful” isn’t normally my first thought when I see an AK-47. It’s true that there is a lot to be said for its reliability and the fact that you can’t slow it down with corrosive ammo, water, dirt, dust, carbon buildup, etc. Heck, you could throw it into a kiddie pool full of Jello chocolate pudding and it would still put rounds on target. But Read More →

Glock 43 Review: This One Might be the First Glock in the Safe (Again)

I’m not a Glock fanboy. I don’t even have one in the safe at the moment. I appreciate their simplicity and I love that they go bang reliably without breaking the bank, but I prefer to shoot the 1911 in competition and I tend to use other things for house guns as well. I shoot Glocks fine, but I just tend to like other things better. Read More →

AR Review: Forward Controls Design EMR & EMR-C Mag Releases

I recently received the Forward Controls Design EMR and EMR-C and have had a chance to briefly use each model. Both of these are drop in replacements for your standard AR-15 magazine release button. They are made from 7075-T3 aluminum bar stock, and then Type III hard coat anodized. The results are a nicely machined product with a uniform finish. The EMR (at right) features a Read More →
